Tse Addo Flooding: 15 children and infant rescued by boat after heavy rains

At least 15 children, including an infant, have been rescued by boat at Tse Addo in Accra after heavy rains on Monday, June 29 triggered severe flooding and cut off parts of the community.

The rescue operation became necessary after rapidly rising floodwaters left residents stranded, with movement in and out of the area becoming increasingly dangerous.

Eyewitnesses said emergency responders, supported by local volunteers, deployed boats to evacuate the affected children and the months-old baby to safer ground as water levels continued to surge.

The incident forms part of widespread flooding across the Greater Accra Region following hours of persistent rainfall, which has disrupted transport, submerged homes, and heightened safety concerns in several low-lying communities.

Authorities are yet to release full details on the condition of those rescued. Meanwhile, residents have been urged to exercise caution and avoid flood-prone routes as the rains continue.
