NCCE Anloga engages community on adolescent health, gender equality and prevention of gender-based violence
Anloga Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has engaged community members at the Anloga Lorry Park in a public education exercise on the theme "Adolescent Health, Gender Equality, and Preventing Gender-Based Violence through Civic Engagement."
The programme formed part of efforts to promote public awareness and encourage active citizen participation in addressing issues affecting adolescents and building safer, more inclusive communities.
Welcoming participants, Togbi Hatsu III, Director of NCCE Anloga, thanked community members for attending and outlined the purpose of the engagement. He emphasised the importance of civic participation in promoting adolescent wellbeing, advancing gender equality, and preventing all forms of gender-based violence, and urged community members to become ambassadors of positive change who support efforts to protect the rights and dignity of all persons, especially adolescents.
Speaking on adolescent reproductive health, Sedudzi Gborgblor, Health Officer at the Anloga District, educated participants on issues affecting adolescent health and development. He highlighted the need for adolescents to make informed decisions, adopt healthy lifeclasss, and seek reliable information and support services, and encouraged parents, guardians, and community leaders to create safe environments that enable adolescents to grow into responsible adults.
Addressing the gathering on gender-based violence and related concerns, Sylvester Kojo Deku, Social Welfare and Community Development Officer, Anloga, explained the different forms of GBV and their effects on individuals, families, and communities. He stressed that violence in any form undermines development, and urged community members to report cases and support survivors through the appropriate institutions and community structures.
