Bus driver, truck mate die in collision on Elubo–Takoradi Highway
Two persons have died while four others sustained injuries following a head-on collision involving a passenger bus and a cargo truck at Abease on the Elubo–Takoradi Highway.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said firefighters were deployed to the crash scene on Thursday, June 25, and rescued victims trapped in the wreckage.
According to the service, the injured persons were transported to the Elubo Government Hospital for medical treatment.
"The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) responded to a fatal head-on collision involving a Sinotruck and a Nigerian passenger bus at Abease on the Elubo–Takoradi Highway on Thursday, June 25, 2026," the statement read in part.
The service said the driver of the passenger bus died at the scene while the truck mate later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the accident occurred after the passenger bus allegedly veered into the lane of the oncoming truck while attempting to avoid a pothole on the highway.

Firefighters also secured the accident scene and cleared debris from the road to facilitate the movement of traffic.
The Ghana National Fire Service urged motorists to exercise caution on the roads and observe traffic regulations to help reduce road crashes and save lives.
