NACSA sensitises UPSA students on firearms dangers
The National Commission on Small Arms (NACSA) has engaged students of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), on the dangers of illicit small arms and the importance of nurturing peace on campus.
The engagement, held at the LBC Auditorium, highlighted the risks associated with the proliferation and misuse of firearms, the legal consequences of possessing firearms without authorisation, and the shared responsibility of creating gunviolencefree learning environments.
Discussions focused on Ghana’s firearms laws, including penalties for unauthorised possession, as well as the influence of media content in shaping young people’s attitudes toward violence.
NACSA also shared reallife incidents involving university students and gunrelated crimes to emphasise the devastating consequences of firearm misuse.
Students actively participated in the session, asking insightful questions on self-defence laws, firearm registration procedures, and effective approaches to arms control.
