Prioritize kindness to unlock divine breakthrough — SDA Elder urges Christians

A senior leader of the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church, Elder Abraham Tuffour of the Kumasi Yenyawoso branch, has called on Christians to remain committed to the biblical values of love, compassion, and generosity despite the economic difficulties facing the country.

Speaking on Advent World Radio 97.7 FM in Kumasi on Tuesday, June 23, Elder Tuffour stressed that financial challenges should not prevent believers from extending support to the vulnerable in society.

He noted that caring for the poor and needy is a fundamental Christian responsibility and not an optional act of charity.

God Loves a Cheerful Giver
Drawing inspiration from Scripture, Elder Tuffour reminded listeners that God delights in cheerful giving and rewards those who show kindness to others.

According to him, acts of mercy and support for the less privileged serve as pathways to divine blessings and breakthroughs.

“Christ is our cornerstone who set the ultimate example by demonstrating unconditional love for the needy,” he said. “As Christians, we are called to follow His example. Through kindness and generosity, we position ourselves for divine favour and sustainable living.”

Concern Over Discrimination Against the Poor

Elder Tuffour expressed concern about the treatment of vulnerable people in society, saying many continue to face discrimination and injustice.

He observed that institutions expected to protect the poor sometimes contribute to their suffering. He particularly highlighted the challenges faced by individuals who are unable to access legal representation because of financial constraints.

Quoting Job 29:16, he reminded believers that God identifies with the poor and the needy and expects His followers to do the same.

“When we treat the poor as inferior, we distance ourselves from the heart of God,” he cautioned.

Focus on Eternal Rewards
The SDA elder also urged Christians to adopt an eternal perspective on wealth and possessions, stressing that material riches are temporary.

He encouraged believers to invest in acts of charity and service, describing such deeds as treasures that carry lasting spiritual value.

“Our existence on earth is temporary,” he said. “When we support the poor, we are not just helping a neighbour. We are making an investment that is recognised in heaven.”

A Call to Use Wealth for God’s Work

Concluding his message, Elder Tuffour urged Christians to view their resources as instruments for advancing God's work and uplifting others rather than pursuing personal gain alone.

“My message is clear: do good and support the poor. When you become a vessel of God’s mercy, you do not hinder your progress. Rather, you position yourself to receive an overflow of divine breakthrough,” he declared.
