Diaspora membership key in sustaining NPP's strength — NAPO

The 2024 vice presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, says the party's strength extends beyond Ghana's borders and is sustained by the commitment and dedication of its members in the diaspora.

According to him, party faithful living abroad continue to play a crucial role in mobilising support, promoting the party's values and contributing to its growth.

Dr Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as NAPO, made the remarks in a social media post on Tuesday, June 23, after meeting the leadership and members of Loyal Ladies Canada.

"The strength of the New Patriotic Party is not built only within the borders of Ghana. It is also sustained by the commitment and dedication of party faithful across the diaspora who continue to organise, mobilise, and champion our values wherever they find themselves," he stated.

The former Manhyia South MP said he was encouraged by the efforts of the group in promoting the party and strengthening engagement among Ghanaians living in Canada.

He noted that the commitment shown by members of Loyal Ladies Canada demonstrates the important role the diaspora continues to play in the affairs of the party.

"It was therefore an honour to spend time with the leadership and members of Loyal Ladies Canada, whose passion for the New Patriotic Party and commitment to its growth remain truly inspiring," Dr Opoku Prempeh said.

He further commended the group for its efforts to mobilise support for the party and contribute to its rebuilding efforts following the 2024 general elections.

The NPP suffered defeat in the 2024 general elections and is currently undertaking efforts to reorganise and rebuild ahead of future political contests.
