NACOC probes Australian drug seizure linked to Ghana
The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has commenced investigations into a major drug seizure in Australia involving approximately 320 kilograms of methamphetamine allegedly shipped from Ghana.
The Commission said the illicit drugs were concealed in a consignment purported to contain charcoal and intercepted by the Australian Federal Police (AFP) upon arrival in Australia.
A statement signed by Mr. Francis Opoku Amoah, the Acting Director, Public Affairs, said the Commission was collaborating closely with internal security agencies and international partners to identify, trace, and apprehend all persons connected to the trafficking operation.
The statement emphasised the NACOC's commitment to combating transnational organised crime and preventing Ghana's territory and commercial channels from being exploited by international drug trafficking networks.
“NACOC remains committed to strengthening international cooperation and ensuring that Ghana's territory and commercial channels are not exploited by transnational drug trafficking networks,” it said.
