Bole SHS teacher involved in sexual misconduct should never go near students again — Ofosu Nkansah

Former Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, has called for the dismissal of a teacher implicated in an alleged sexual misconduct case involving a student of Bole Senior High School in the Savannah Region.

His call follows the interdiction of the teacher by the Ghana Education Service (GES) after a video purportedly showing the teacher engaged in sexual misconduct with a student surfaced on social media.

GES announced on Tuesday, June 16, that it had commenced investigations into the incident and had interdicted the teacher pending the outcome of the probe.

Reacting in a social media post, Ofosu Nkansah described the alleged conduct as both immoral and unlawful, noting that the teacher should not be allowed to continue working around students.

“A whole teacher doing this with a student? Are you alright?” he questioned.

He argued that even if the student was legally old enough to consent, the relationship would still amount to a breach of professional ethics and trust.

“The student may be of age in terms of consent but it's immoral and unlawful to have s*xual relationship with your student. Even office romance between two adults creates problems how much more with a student,” he stated.

The former NEIP boss further called for the immediate dismissal of the teacher and proposed the establishment of a sexual offenders register.

“This one de3 straight dismissal. May be we should build a s*xual offenders register. This one shouldn't go close to any student again,” he added.

In its statement, GES stressed that it maintains a zero-tolerance policy on sexual misconduct involving staff and students.

The education authority also assured the public that appropriate disciplinary and legal action would be taken against any person found culpable after investigations are concluded.
