Upper East Regional Minister leads stakeholders forum on 10‑year development plan
The Upper East Regional Minister, Hon. Donatus Akamugri Atanga, has outlined the purpose and significance of the upcoming 10‑Year Development Plan Forum, describing it as a strategic platform designed to shape a long-term vision for sustainable growth and transformation in the region.
Engaging stakeholders, including the media, the Minister explained that the forum will convene government officials, development experts, technocrats, traditional leaders, investors, civil society organisations, and development partners to collectively identify the region’s pressing challenges and prioritise practical, people‑centred solutions.
According to him, the 10‑year plan will provide a clear roadmap for advancing infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, industry, and job creation. He emphasised that the involvement of traditional authorities, experts, and community representatives ensures that development priorities reflect the real needs and aspirations of the people.
Hon. Akamugri highlighted that the participation of both local and international investors presents an opportunity to showcase the region’s economic potential and attract investment in agriculture, mining, tourism, renewable energy, and manufacturing.
He further noted that the forum will strengthen collaboration between central government, local authorities, and development partners to enhance the effective implementation of development projects. It is also expected to help secure funding and technical support for major initiatives.
The anticipated presence of former President John Dramani Mahama and other senior government officials, he said, underscores the national importance of the initiative and reaffirms government’s commitment to accelerating development in the Upper East Region.
The Minister expressed confidence that the forum will generate actionable strategies to improve livelihoods, create employment opportunities, reduce poverty, strengthen infrastructure, and boost the overall socio‑economic transformation of the region over the next decade.
