Offinso North DCE cuts sod for 24‑Hour Economy model market at Nkenkaasu

Construction has commenced on a 24‑Hour Economy Model Market at Nkenkaasu in the Offinso North District of the Ashanti Region, with the project expected to boost economic activity and create employment opportunities for residents.

The project, being executed by Wazkad Ghana Limited, forms part of the government’s 24‑Hour Economy initiative aimed at promoting continuous business operations and expanding economic opportunities across the country.

Speaking at the sod‑cutting ceremony, the District Chief Executive for Offinso North, Hon. Caesar Ofosu Acheampong, said the project would transform the local economy and improve livelihoods through increased trade and investment.

He explained that the facility will include a police station, fire station, clinic, pharmacies, model school, restaurants, women’s bank, warehouse, lockable stores, open stalls, and other supporting infrastructure to facilitate round‑the‑clock commercial activity.

Mr. Acheampong assured the contractor of the Assembly’s full support to ensure the successful and timely completion of the project. He also appealed to the contractor to engage local artisans and skilled workers so that residents can directly benefit from the employment opportunities associated with the construction phase.

The DCE described the project as a significant intervention that will strengthen commerce in the district and contribute to national efforts to drive economic growth through the 24‑Hour Economy policy.

A representative of the Chief of Nkenkaasu, Nana Takyi, who also serves as the Afase Bon Mmrantee‑hene, welcomed the project and expressed gratitude to the government for selecting the community as a beneficiary. He urged residents to remain united and maintain peace to support the successful implementation of development projects.
