Nabdam MP Commissions KG Classroom Block and Maternity Ward to Boost Education and Healthcare

The Member of Parliament for Nabdam Constituency, Dr. Mark Nawaane, has commissioned and handed over a newly constructed Kindergarten (KG) classroom block with toilet and urinal facilities at Nkunziesi, as well as a fully equipped maternity ward at Gundork, in a bid to improve access to quality education and healthcare in the district.

Speaking at the separate commissioning ceremonies, Dr. Nawaane reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening early childhood education and expanding quality healthcare delivery across communities within the constituency.

He emphasized that investment in education and health remains central to the development of every society and the long‑term well‑being of children and families.

“The importance of kindergarten education is that it is the stage where we teach children how to write, sing, speak, and even learn our local languages. It is a foundation that helps them develop essential skills,”
Dr. Nawaane explained.

The new KG block at Nkunziesi is expected to provide a safe and conducive learning environment for young pupils. The accompanying sanitation facilities will promote hygiene and help improve school attendance.

The project will also reduce overcrowding and enhance teaching and learning at the foundational level.

At Gundork, the newly commissioned maternity ward is set to strengthen maternal and child healthcare services by giving pregnant women and nursing mothers improved access to quality medical care.

The facility will ease the burden on expectant mothers who previously had to travel long distances to access maternity services.

Dr. Nawaane assured residents of both communities that he would continue to champion development projects that directly improve livelihoods. He stressed that expanding educational infrastructure and healthcare facilities remains a top priority in his efforts to enhance living standards across the constituency.

The District Chief Executive, Francis Yenwona Tobig, highlighted the challenges schoolchildren in Nkunziesi had been facing. He noted that due to inadequate classroom space, some pupils were forced to attend schools in other communities.

“I am particularly happy because we have finally secured a proper place for our children. I appeal to parents to bring their children to school every day so they can receive quality education,”
the DCE said.

He reaffirmed the NDC government's commitment to providing quality education for all Ghanaian children, regardless of location.

Residents and community leaders expressed profound gratitude to the MP for the projects, describing them as timely interventions that will significantly improve the welfare of children, women, and families in both communities.

They pledged to maintain the facilities and use them responsibly for the benefit of future generations.

The projects form part of ongoing efforts to expand access to quality education and healthcare in the Nabdam District and support the government's broader development agenda.
