Circuit Court restores Abronye’s bail conditions after surrendering passport
An Accra Circuit Court has reinstated the bail conditions of the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, after confirming that he had fully complied with the court’s earlier directives.
On June 4, 2026, the court remanded him into police custody for failing to meet a bail condition requiring him to surrender his passport in an ongoing criminal case.
However, during proceedings on Monday, June 8, 2026, defence counsel Daniel Martey Addo informed the court that all outstanding bail conditions had been satisfied, including the submission of his client’s passport.
The court then sought confirmation from the registrar, who verified that the passport had been deposited on the morning of Friday, June 5, 2026.
Following this confirmation, the court restored Abronye DC to his previous bail terms but cautioned him that any breach of the conditions would lead to their revocation.
The ruling came after the court reviewed his compliance and expressed satisfaction that the required conditions had been met.
Abronye DC is currently standing trial on a charge of false publication in a case brought by the State. He was earlier granted bail by the High Court after being remanded following his arraignment, with one of the conditions being the surrender of his passport to the court.
