83 Persons With Disabilities Receive GH¢384,200 Support From Disability Fund in Nkoranza

The Nkoranza Municipal Assembly has disbursed GH¢384,200 in cash grants to 83 persons with disabilities (PWDs) to support their livelihoods and improve their economic independence.

At a brief ceremony in the municipality, 41 beneficiaries engaged in petty trading received financial support — 39 of them received GH¢4,000 each, while two others received GH¢5,000 each to expand their small businesses.

In the agriculture sector, 12 PWDs received a total of GH¢48,000, with each beneficiary taking home GH¢4,000 to boost their farming activities.

Parents and caregivers of children living with disabilities were also supported, receiving a total of GH¢44,000, with each caregiver receiving GH¢4,000 to assist with the children’s needs.

Under health support, 12 beneficiaries received GH¢74,000 to help them access essential medical care. Additionally, seven PWDs pursuing education received GH¢12,200 to aid their academic needs.

The Assembly extended support beyond individuals to disability associations within the municipality. The Ghana Blind Union received GH¢10,000, the Ghana Federation of the Disabled received GH¢10,000, while the Ghana Society of the Physically Disabled received GH¢20,000.

The initiative forms part of the government’s commitment to empowering persons with disabilities and ensuring they have the resources needed to improve their quality of life.
