NPP Needs a Father-Figure with Integrity and Sound Intellect as National Chairman
Chairmen are symbolic figureheads of the organizations they lead. This makes them the face of their organizations. By virtue of this, every serious organization considers the caliber of person it elects as chairman.
This leaves the New Patriotic Party (NPP) with no other option but to elect a father-figure with high moral standards and sound intellect as its next national chairman. Why is the father-figure personality non-negotiable for the national chairmanship of the party?
The NPP currently finds itself in a state of disunity and needless, self-inflicted factionalism. This phenomenon has destroyed social cohesion in the party, making it difficult for the NPP to mobilize a formidable electoral machinery in terms of human resources.
To cure this, the party must work towards building unity. The reality on the ground, however, is that the party is disgruntled, with many of its members nursing unpardonable offenses against one another. This makes the unity-building process a herculean task.
Under such circumstances, it will take a respectable person to lead this cause. This person should be a revered father-figure who is trusted by the majority, if not all members of the party.
In view of this, the next national chairman of the NPP must be a man of integrity with sound intellect. This is what makes Mr. Boakye Agyarko the right person for this enviable but demanding position.
He does not only command the respect of NPP members and the general public, but he also has what it takes to lead the party’s unity-building process.
Aside from his enviable academic background, Mr. Agyarko brings on board a wealth of experience acquired from diverse roles he has played in serving society. Nobody can downplay the place of negotiation in unity building. Thankfully, that is one of his core skills.
Having worked with the Bank of New York for over two decades and risen to the positions of Vice President and Head of Global Network Management in the Investment Management and Services Division, Mr. Agyarko is known for his negotiation, organizational, and managerial skills. With these skills, Mr. Agyarko can efficiently manage the party’s affairs. Moreover, he will apply his negotiation skills to strike a compromise with all the factions responsible for the disunity in the party.
Mr. Agyarko’s ability to lead the rebuilding and reorganization of the NPP is not only evidenced by his wealth of knowledge, experience, and special skills. The man is an institution with institutional memory as far as matters of the NPP are concerned.
As a founding member of the NPP who has served the party in various capacities, Mr. Agyarko is not new to the problems the party is currently facing. Mr. Agyarko served as Chairman of the Danquah-Busia Club of North America, NPP Coordinator for North America, National Campaign Manager in 2012, and Policy Adviser in 2016. His institutional memory and long-standing commitment position him as one of the few elders whose words can be taken seriously by all factions of the party.
Mr. Agyarko’s institutional memory, knowledge, experience, relevant special skills, wisdom, and integrity make him the best person to lead the NPP as national chairman.
