Stephen Yeboah appointed new registrar of Sunyani Technical University
The Governing Council of Sunyani Technical University (STU) has appointed Mr. Stephen Yeboah, the current Director of Human Resource Development, as the University's next Registrar.
The appointment takes effect from August 1, 2026, according to a notice issued to the university community and signed by the Vice-Chancellor, Ing. Prof. Kwadwo Adinkrah-Appiah. The decision was made at the 30th Regular Meeting of the Governing Council held on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.
Mr. Yeboah, who also serves as the Kyidomhene of Sunyani, will succeed Mr. Samuel Ankama Obour, who is due to retire after rendering 29 years of dedicated and meritorious service to the University.
A seasoned administrator, Mr. Yeboah joined STU in October 2003 as a Senior Administrative Assistant. Through hard work, commitment and resilience, he steadily rose through the ranks to become Director of Human Resource Development.
Education
Born on August 27, 1974, Mr. Yeboah completed his basic education at the Nyamaa Junior Secondary School in Sunyani before continuing at the Twene Amanfo Secondary/Technical School (TASTECH), also in Sunyani, where he obtained his Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE) in 1993.
He later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in French and Geography from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in 2000. He holds an MBA in Human Resource Management from the Paris Graduate School of Management in France, obtained in 2007, and an MPhil in Human Resource Management from KNUST, which he completed in 2021.
Mr. Yeboah is fluent in English, French and Twi and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Administrators and Management Consultants-Ghana.
Professional experience
With nearly three decades of professional experience, he has served in both public and private institutions. Prior to joining STU, he undertook his national service with the Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA), taught at Faith Assemblies of God Secondary School in Kumasi, and served as Assistant District Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) in Sunyani.
Known for his strong leadership and teamwork skills, Mr. Yeboah has participated in numerous conferences, workshops and professional development programmes. He has also contributed to academic research and published several scholarly works in the field of human resource management.
The University community has welcomed his appointment and expressed confidence in his ability to provide effective administrative leadership as STU continues its drive towards academic excellence and institutional growth.
