“Philanthropy Isn’t Politics”: Kastone Records MD Dispels Election Ambition Rumours

Renowned philanthropist, community development advocate, and Managing Director of Kastone Records, Mr. Wenawome Duriyem Aborah, has strongly dismissed claims that his extensive charitable work is a covert attempt to launch a political career.

Speaking on A1 Radio, Mr. Wenawome addressed growing public speculation that his consistent support for community development projects signals an intention to contest a political position in his constituency. He clarified that his motivation is rooted in a genuine desire to uplift communities and improve lives—not in political ambition.

According to him, a persistent misconception exists in Ghanaian society: that anyone who invests personal resources in community projects must be preparing for political office. He described this assumption as unfair and potentially harmful, warning that it could discourage well‑meaning individuals from contributing to national development.

Mr. Wenawome stressed that philanthropy should not be viewed through a political lens. Many communities, he noted, continue to struggle with challenges in education, healthcare, water supply, infrastructure, and youth development—areas where private individuals and organizations can meaningfully complement government efforts.

He explained that his interventions over the years have been driven by a sense of responsibility and a passion for social impact. His support for institutions, community initiatives, and vulnerable individuals has never been tied to political expectations or conditions.

“Supporting community projects does not necessarily mean one wants to occupy a political position,” he emphasized. “If every act of generosity is interpreted as a political strategy, many people who have the capacity to help may become reluctant to do so.”

Mr. Wenawome urged the public to encourage and appreciate citizens who contribute to community development, regardless of their political affiliations or aspirations. He maintained that sustainable development requires collective effort and that individuals should be free to support their communities without being subjected to political speculation.

His remarks serve as a reminder that philanthropy is a civic responsibility that strengthens communities and accelerates local development—and should be celebrated, not politicized.
