Historical Christianity; Was Great Britain Founded On The Gospel?
According to historical antecedent, Great Britain, except Ireland was founded on the Authority Gospel of Jesus Christ with England as the pivot. That is why the Church of England always coronate the Kings and Queens of England instead of the Judiciary like in other jurisdictions. This is because the Head of the Church of England otherwise known as the Protestant Anglican is the King or Queen of England.
Why?
The 16th Century Reformation in 1517 led by Martin Luther spread across Europe and entered England during the reign of King Henry VIII 1534. Before then Great Britain was under the Authority of the Roman Catholic church which was so powerful and could enthrone and dethrone kings.
But the English Reformer called John Wycliffe who prior to the emergence Luther Protestant Reformation, began the Reformation in England in the hope that Britain liberates itself from the autocratic rule of the Roman Catholic church which succeeded under the reign of King Henry VIII broke England away from the Catholic church to begin the first Protestant church in England called church of England. This was because the Catholic Church failed to annul his marriage and found the church to be more powerful which the Reformation fought in Their age.
So when Eñglañd broke away, his successors Edward VI and Mary Tudor, Elizabeth 1 continued with the Reformation till 1608 and continued till date. The Irish people never joined the Reformation and continued with their allegiance to Roman Catholic Church hence, Great Britain was split into United Kingdom and Ireland. Later, Northern Ireland joined the Reformation and broke away from The Ireland. That's why we have UK comprising England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland who owes allegiance to the Church of England with the exception of Ireland who owes allegiance to Roman Church.
The English Reformation, Wikipedia
The English Reformation took place in 16th-century England when the Church of England broke away from the authority of the pope and the Catholic Church. These events were part of the wider European Reformation, a religious and political movement that affected the practice of Christianity in Western and Central Europe.

Ideologically, the groundwork for the Reformation was laid by Renaissance humanists who believed that the Scriptures were the only source of Christian faith and criticized religious practices which they considered superstitious. By 1520, Martin Luther's new ideas were known and debated in England, but Protestants were a religious minority and heretics under the law. The English Reformation began as more of a political affair than a theological dispute.[note 1] In 1527, Henry VIII requested an annulment of his marriage, but Pope Clement VII refused.
In response, the Reformation Parliament (1529–1536) passed laws abolishing papal authority in England and declared Henry to be head of the Church of England. Final authority in doctrinal disputes now rested with the monarch. Though a religious traditionalist himself, Henry relied on Protestants to support and implement his religious agenda.
The theology and liturgy of the Church of England became markedly Protestant during the reign of Henry's son Edward VI (1547–1553) largely along lines laid down by Archbishop Thomas Cranmer. Under Mary I (1553–1558), Roman Catholicism was restored and England was briefly under papal jurisdiction. The Elizabethan Religious Settlement reintroduced the Protestant religion but in a more moderate manner. Nevertheless, disputes over the structure, theology, and worship of the Church of England continued for generations.
The English Reformation is generally considered to have concluded during the reign of Elizabeth I (1558–1603), but scholars also speak of a "Long Reformation" stretching into the 17th and 18th centuries. This time period includes the violent disputes over religion manifested in the English Civil Wars and the execution of Charles I.
After the Stuart Restoration, the Church of England remained the established church, but a number of nonconformist churches now existed whose members suffered various civil disabilities until these were removed many years later. A substantial but dwindling minority of people from the late 16th to early 19th centuries remained Roman Catholics in England. Their church organization remained illegal until the Relief Act of 1829.
So why is England and United Kingdom founded on the Gospel?
It is because it upholds the Reformation doctrines (Sola Scriptura, that Scripture alone is the final authority of all Christian Doctrines and practices, SOLA CHRISTUS; That Christ alone is the Head of the Church, SOLA FIDE; That justification is by Faith in Christ alone, SOLA GRACIAS; That Salvation comes from Christ alone and SOLI DEO GLORIA; that Glory is to be given to God alone) taught by Martin Luther and the Reformers against heresies taught by the Roman Catholic Church of that age.
The English monarch holds unto the authentic Christian doctrine rooted in the New Testament Scripture and rejects the superstition, traditions, dogmas and heresies of the Roman Institution. So, the coronation of Kings and Queens of England by the Church of England, is an affirmation of their trust and belief in the Gospel of Jesus Christ as the foundation of faith and as a way, the King reposes his faith in the Protestant Theology by the Oath he swore on behalf of the United Kingdom.
By this reposition England and United Kingdom remains the Head of the union Jack and the King remains the Head of the Church of England which is the supreme authority of the British monarchy . So the Church of England has supervisory jurisdiction over England and Great Britain except Ireland that refuses to join the United Kingdom. Hence, the National Anthem owes allegiance to King or Queen of England.
God save the Glorious King!
Long live our noble King!!
God save the King
Send him victory
Happy and glorious
Long to rule over us
God save the King
The Anthem
