Ghana secures premium Mina tents and historic Arafat space for Hajj 2026 Pilgrimage

The Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana (PAOG) has announced that Ghanaian pilgrims participating in the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage will benefit from newly allocated premium tents at Mina and a strategically located space at Arafat in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

In a statement issued by the Communications Directorate of the Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana on Saturday, May 16, 2026, the PAOG described the development as a significant milestone aimed at improving the comfort and spiritual experience of Ghanaian pilgrims during this year’s Hajj rites.

According to the statement, the newly secured tents at Mina will provide enhanced accommodation for pilgrims during one of the most important stages of the pilgrimage.

Mina, popularly referred to as the “City of Tents,” serves as a central location for several Hajj rituals, including the symbolic stoning of the devil, known as Rami, and the observance of the Days of Tashreeq from the 11th to the 13th of Dhul Hijjah.

The office explained that the stay in Mina is not only a mandatory aspect of Hajj but also a period of deep spiritual reflection and unity among Muslims, commemorating the sacrifice and devotion of Prophet Ibrahim.

The statement further noted that pilgrims follow the example of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), who camped in Mina during his Farewell Pilgrimage.

PAOG also disclosed that Ghana has, for the first time in its Hajj history, been allocated a space at Arafat very close to Jabal Arafat, also known as Mount Arafat or Jabal ar-Rahmah, the “Mountain of Mercy.”

The site holds great religious significance in Islam, as it is where Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) delivered his Farewell Sermon. It is also believed to be the place where Prophet Adam and Eve reunited on earth.

Pilgrims are expected to gather at Arafat on the 9th of Dhul Hijjah, the Day of Arafah, regarded as the most important day of the Hajj pilgrimage, to offer prayers and seek forgiveness.

The Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana said the arrangements reflect ongoing efforts to ensure a smooth, spiritually fulfilling, and comfortable pilgrimage experience for Ghanaian Muslims undertaking Hajj 2026.
