Alagumgube donates GHC10,000 to NaCCA-approved La Buuri Yela author at book launch
The Alagumgube Association has demonstrated its commitment to education and cultural preservation by donating GHC10,000 to the author of La Buuri Yela during the official launch of the book.
The event, which attracted educators, traditional authorities, students, and community members, celebrated the successful publication and approval of the book by the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) for educational use.
Addressing participants at the ceremony, members of the association said the donation was aimed at encouraging authors who dedicate their efforts to promoting local languages and culture through literature. According to them, supporting indigenous language publications is essential in preserving the identity and heritage of communities for future generations.
They further commended the author for the dedication and hard work invested in producing a book that contributes to the teaching and learning of the Frafra language in schools.
Receiving the donation, the author expressed appreciation to the Alagumgube Association for the generous support and recognition. The author noted that the contribution would serve as motivation to continue producing educational materials that promote local culture and language development.
The launch also served as a platform for stakeholders to stress the importance of investing in mother-tongue education and encouraging young people to appreciate their cultural roots.
With NaCCA’s approval, La Buuri Yela is expected to play a key role in enhancing local language education and literacy among students, particularly in northern Ghana.
