Court fines five, jails one for illegal dumping at Kejetia’s Otumfuo roundabout
Six individuals have been convicted by the Prempeh Assembly District Court in Kumasi for illegally dumping refuse at the Otumfuo Roundabout in Kejetia.
The presiding judge, Her Worship Deborah Gyaawa Donkoh, delivered the ruling on May 11, 2026, after the accused persons pleaded guilty to the sanitation offence.
The convicts are Atta Gyamfi, 55; Manuna Ishawu, 24; Veronica Maako, 31; Mariama Iddrisu, 64; Kwadwo Amuzu, 37; and Ebenezer Atakorah, 25.
The court fined each of them 100 penalty units, equivalent to GHS 1,200.00, with a default sentence of 10 days imprisonment for those who failed to pay.
Five of the offenders have since paid the fines, while Ebenezer Atakorah could not settle his and has therefore been sentenced to serve a 10 day jail term.
