Navrongo: Navro-Pio honoured by PAYOM over St. Matthew TVET takeover
The leadership of the Paga Youth Movement (PAYOM) has paid a courtesy call on the Paramount Chief of the Navrongo Traditional Area, Pe Denis Belinia Aniakwa Adda Asagpare II, popularly known as the Navro-Pio, to express gratitude for his role in securing government absorption of the St. Matthew Technical Vocational Institute.
The youth group praised the chief for his “unwavering support and advocacy” which contributed to the successful integration of the St. Matthew Technical Vocational Institute into the public Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system under the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system framework.
Established by Catholic priest Rev. Fr. Albert Wuuga with support from the Follman family, the institute located at Paga-Bayono in the Kassena-Nankana West District is expected to begin admitting students in September 2026.
The PAYOM delegation, led by Elder Thomas Awiah and Chairman Mr. Wenawome Duriyem Aborah, also appealed to the Navro-Pio to continue engaging government for the upgrading of Paga Senior High School into a full boarding institution.
Speaking during the visit, Mr. Aborah said the group returned to express appreciation after earlier assurances by the chief materialised.
“Some time last month, we visited the Navro-Pio… we were assured the matter would receive attention. Lo and behold, that came to pass last week,” he said.
He stressed that although the chief viewed his intervention as part of his duty, the youth felt it was important to formally acknowledge his contribution.
“He is a father doing it for his children, but that does not mean the children should not show appreciation,” he added.
Mr. Aborah further noted that PAYOM remains committed to educational development in the area and will continue advocating for full boarding status for Paga SHS.
Beyond education, he said the movement’s progress reflects unity and purposeful leadership among its members.
Receiving the delegation, the Navro-Pio expressed appreciation for the gesture and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting development in the area.
He urged the youth to remain united and actively contribute to community progress through dialogue and cooperation.
