Finger chopped off, suspect arrested in Akyem Oda machete fight
The Eastern South Regional Police Command has restored calm at the New Station Area of Akyem Oda following a violent confrontation involving a group of young men armed with cutlasses.
In a statement signed by DSP David Fianko Okyere of the Public Affairs Unit on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, police said officers responded after a viral video surfaced showing the youths attacking one another with cutlasses in the area.
According to the statement, personnel were immediately dispatched to the scene to contain the situation and restore order.
Two suspects were later traced to separate hospitals where they were receiving treatment for injuries sustained during the clash.
One of the suspects, George Okyere, 30, was found at the emergency ward of the Oda Jubilee Hospital with a deep cut to his forehead and a severed finger on his right hand.
Another suspect, identified as Paul Pascalele, was located at the Akyem Oda Government Hospital with a deep cut on his right hand.
Police also arrested a third suspect, Evans Adayele, at his hideout. He is currently assisting investigators with ongoing inquiries.
The command said efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest other individuals connected to the incident for further investigation and possible prosecution.
