ECG announces emergency maintenance in Ashanti, Western Regions today
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced emergency maintenance exercises across parts of the Ashanti and Western Regions on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, which will result in temporary power outages in several communities.
In advisories issued on Monday, the company said the works are aimed at addressing urgent network faults and preventing further deterioration in service delivery. The outages will begin at different times depending on the location and the scope of work to be undertaken.
In the Ashanti Region, two separate maintenance operations have been planned. The first, scheduled from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, will affect Behenase, Kokobriko, Mensase, Abuoso and nearby areas.
The second exercise, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, will impact Ayeduase, Deduako, parts of Kotei, Atonsu, Ahinsan Estate, Gyinyase, Chirapatre and surrounding communities.
In the Western Region, a similar exercise will take place from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, affecting Apowa township and adjoining areas.
ECG apologised to customers for the inconvenience caused, noting that such interventions are necessary despite the disruption to domestic and commercial activities.
The company assured the public that the maintenance works are critical to strengthening the power network and improving long-term service delivery across the affected regions.
