Ho authorities rally support for BECE candidates across 11 centres
Authorities in the Ho Municipality have expressed strong encouragement and assurance as 3,232 candidates begin this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination across 11 centres.
The Ho Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Stephen Adom, extended his best wishes to all candidates in a goodwill message issued earlier today, urging them to approach the examinations with confidence and determination.
He encouraged the students to remain focused and give their best throughout the examination period, expressing optimism that their years of preparation would yield success.
Hon. Adom also commended teachers, parents and guardians for their vital role in preparing the candidates, noting that their support has been instrumental in shaping the students for this important academic milestone.
He reaffirmed the Ho Municipal Assembly’s commitment to improving education and creating an enabling environment for students to excel, stressing that investment in education remains key to the municipality’s long term development.
Meanwhile, the Ho Municipal Director of Education, Dr Esther Yeboah Adzimah, has expressed confidence in the readiness of the candidates for the 2026 BECE. Speaking on Swiss 93.7 FM ahead of the opening ceremony, she said both the directorate and individual schools had implemented extensive preparation and revision strategies.
According to her, the students are well prepared and expected to perform creditably, adding that the combined efforts of schools and the directorate have positioned them to handle the examinations effectively.
On security, Dr Yeboah confirmed that the Ghana Police Service is overseeing all examination centres in Ho. Officers are conducting checks at the centres and escorting examination papers to designated collection points to ensure integrity.
She added that monitoring teams from various offices will be deployed across the municipality to ensure a smooth and credible examination process.
Dr Yeboah clarified that there are no Arabic language examinations being conducted in the municipality this year and confirmed that all candidates are expected to complete their papers by Friday as scheduled.
She appealed to the public to avoid visiting examination centres to interfere with the process, urging parents and community members to support candidates through encouragement and prayers.
Dr Yeboah also called on supervisors and invigilators to carry out their duties with professionalism and impartiality.
Data from the Ho Municipal Education Directorate of the Ghana Education Service shows that the 3,232 candidates are drawn from 113 schools across the municipality, made up of 1,541 boys and 1,691 girls, indicating a slightly higher female participation.
Out of the 113 schools, 76 are public, representing 76 percent, while 37 are private, accounting for 24 percent.
To ensure effective supervision, the directorate has deployed 11 supervisors, 10 assistant supervisors and 114 invigilators across the 11 centres.
Education officials say all logistical and administrative arrangements have been completed to guarantee a smooth, fair and orderly examination for all candidates.
