Refrain from cheating — United Party advises 2026 BECE candidates
The United Party has extended goodwill to candidates sitting for the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), wishing them success as they begin their papers nationwide.
More than 620,000 candidates from 20,395 schools across the country sit for the 2026 BECE, which began on Monday, May 4.
The candidates comprise 304,349 boys and 315,792 girls.
In a statement issued on Monday, May 4, and signed by the party's National Communications Director Solomon Owusu, it urged the candidates to focus on discipline and integrity throughout the process.
“The United Party wishes all candidates the best of luck,” the statement said.
It also cautioned candidates against engaging in examination malpractice, while calling on invigilators to uphold fairness at all centres.
“While acknowledging the importance of education, the UP also admonishes all candidates to refrain from cheating at the various examination centres,” it stated.
The party further cautioned that exposure to exam malpractice at an early stage contributes to broader societal corruption challenges.
