Lands Minister sets up ministerial committee to review Adamus License revocation
The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Mr Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has set up a ministerial committee to review the revocation of the license of Adamus Resources Limited.
The decision follows a petition by the company seeking an administrative review and reversal of the earlier action.
Speaking at a meeting with the company’s management in Accra on Thursday, he said the step was based on fairness and the need to safeguard investment in Ghana’s mining sector.
He described the engagement as constructive and said the process would serve both investors and the public.
The committee, made up of officials from the Minerals Commission and the Lands Ministry, has been given two weeks to submit its findings.
Mr Buah said the company would be given the chance to respond to any concerns raised during the review before a final decision is taken, adding that the Ministry would engage the company directly as part of the process.
According to the minister, a separate management committee has been set up to oversee operations at the company’s mining site during the review period, to maintain order and ensure continuity. He noted that the review would be carried out without prejudice to the earlier findings of the Minerals Commission.
Chief Executive Officer of Adamus Resources, Angela List, welcomed the decision and thanked the government for revisiting the matter.
