Police officer caught on camera allegedly extorting money from illegal miners in Abura Dunkwa
A video circulating on social media has sparked public outrage after a police officer was allegedly captured collecting money from illegal miners at a site in Abura Dunkwa.
The footage, reportedly recorded by a galamsey operator identified as “Don Lapeans,” appears to show the officer receiving cash from individuals engaged in illegal mining activities.
The money, seen in GH₵200 notes, is believed to have been handed over in exchange for continued access to the mining site.
In the video, the officer is also heard instructing those who were unable to pay to leave the area, raising serious concerns about abuse of authority and possible complicity in illegal mining operations.
