I was not attacked by NDC, incident linked to land dispute — Ejisu MCE denies claims

The Municipal Chief Executive for Ejisu in the Ashanti Region, Jerryne Asante, has dismissed reports alleging that she was assaulted by members of the National Democratic Congress, stating that the claims are inaccurate.

Speaking on Adehye FM’s Ghana Ekosen Morning Show, Mrs Asante clarified that she was neither attacked nor injured, explaining that the situation arose from a misunderstanding rather than any form of assault.

According to her, the incident was linked to reports of gunfire involving some chiefs and individuals in connection with a land dispute, as well as allegations that certain persons had privately leased government warehouses.

She said she visited the location to assess the situation and verify the status of the warehouses, where those involved were asked to provide documentation to support their claims, while tenants were required to authenticate their lease agreements.

Mrs Asante explained that during subsequent discussions at her office, a misunderstanding occurred, which resulted in damage to a glass table.

She maintained that she remained calm throughout the incident and did not suffer any harm.

Police were later invited to the scene to restore order, and investigations are currently ongoing.

The MCE reiterated that reports suggesting she was assaulted are false and urged the public to disregard them.
