'We'll complete all Big Push projects on schedule' — Roads Minister assures
The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has assured chiefs and residents of the Ahafo and Western North regions that government will complete all ongoing “Big Push” road projects within schedule.
His assurance comes amid concerns over the state of road infrastructure in the two regions, which continue to affect transportation, trade and daily economic activities.
The Minister undertook a one-day working visit on Monday, April 27, to assess progress on key road projects under the programme and to engage contractors on timelines and quality standards.
During the visit, he emphasised that delays in delivery will not be tolerated and that underperforming contractors may have their contracts terminated.
“Timely completion of all Big Push projects is a non-negotiable priority for providing public relief,” the Minister noted.
He stressed that government is committed to ensuring that road users begin to feel the impact of the investments in the shortest possible time.
The projects currently underway include the upgrading of the Bediako Junction–Camp 15–Sefwi Adabokrom road (55km and 9.5km lots), the Adwofua–Oseikojokrom road, and the Enchi–Kudjouru–Pekyi stretch in two lots, as well as the construction of the Dadieso–Akontombra road.
According to the Ministry, contractors are actively engaged in site clearing, drainage works including culverts and U-drains, earthworks, and pavement construction.
