The truth will out
There is nothing moredisheartening than to see a person you have trusted all along come to beexposed as a pretender and an abuser of trust.
There is this true story about a gentleman in Kumawu that the writer had trusted to be nearly the most honest person in Ghana hence had put him in charge of certain tasks on his behalf. Little did he know that with the passage of time, the gentleman would be exposed as most dishonest, untrustworthy and or, a criminal.
Out of the few bad things about him to come to light, the writer will dwell on one that breaks his heart most.
The person in allusion in overseeing the execution of a housing project on behalf of the writer, claimed to have hired a 1,000 litre plastic water container at a daily rate of GHC10.00 chargeable to the writer.
Some days or weeks after moving the container to the building site, the overseer informed the writer of a vehicle accidentally running over the container, irredeemably damaging it.
The owner of the water tank/container was asking for a restitution or the continuation of the daily agreed payments, whichever suited the lessee.
The writer purchased a new water tank of the same make to continue the job but at which time he was no longer on favourable speaking terms but at loggerheads with the guy he had once trusted and held him in high esteem.
The guy had told him he rented the water tank from another guy at Kumawu Gyidi, the location/settlement of the members of the Saviour Church.
Was the settlement that of the late Opanin Peter’s or the one at “Quarters” on one’s way to the newly-built Kumawu District Government Hospital? The writer had, and has, no clue until now.
The writer asked to be told the name of the owner and his location so he could hire a tricycle Aboboyaa to convey the new water tank to him. For all the attempts made to know the owner, the eventually to be an uncovered abuser of trust, kept insisting the container be first taken to his house for him to personally take it to the owner.
For his insistence on the container coming to him first, the writer saw it senseless because he concluded, why should the tank be taken to him before he in turn took it to the alleged owner. Therefore, the tank was left on the grounds of the building project for about two years before being taken to him in March 2026 as he had insisted.
When the tank was taken to him on the orders and personal supervision of the writer in one evening of March 2026, he had barely the next evening to phone up the writer’s younger brother claiming that the tank was broken and that he needed a new one.
Bullshit, excuse my French! The tank was, and is still, in a perfect state as at writing. Why did he allege that it was broken? No one but him knows.
Anyway, it was not long after the writer had returned to the United Kingdom that it was revealed through a telephone conversation between his wife and her friend that the broken water tank belonged to the guy’s youngest sister. Their late father had bought two water tanks for the manufacture of cement blocks for his intended building project but which was cut short by a litigation over the ownership of the plot/land.
When there began the court litigation, all work on the project ceased. The sister of the father took one of the water containers while the other one, to be precise, the white one, went to his daughter, the guy’s youngest sister. This fact came to be inadvertently established in passing through the telephone conversation held.
No wonder that the guy had for about two years kept insisting the container be taken to his house before he moved it to the owner allegedly living in/at Gyidi.
He has been exposed big time, someone must tell him for the writer!
The writer wouldn’t be bothered to see him rent his sister’s tank for his project because at the end of the day, a water tank would have been rented for the project from another source if not his sister’s. However, the question is, why was he lying about the owner’s name and his residence?
For what he has done, could he continue to be in your good books, if you were in the writer’s stead?
Surely, the truth will out to expose those that abuse the trust reposed in them.
