President Mahama fellowships with Nsawam Prison inmates
President John Dramani Mahama, together with the Men’s Ministry of the Ringway Assemblies of God Church, has visited the Nsawam Medium Security Prison to fellowship with inmates.
A statement from the Presidency said the group donated a range of items to support inmate welfare, including 250 bags of rice, 50 bags of maize, 50 bags of gari, 50 bags of sugar, 30 gallons of cooking oil, 50 cartons of tomato paste, 50 cartons of spaghetti and 50 boxes of sardines.
The visit featured a worship session with praise, music and preaching led by the Men’s Ministry.
In a sermon, Reverend Benjamin Tettey, Head Pastor of the Ringway Gospel Centre Assemblies of God Church, encouraged inmates to remain hopeful and embrace repentance and personal reform through faith.
President Mahama emphasised the need for compassion and support for prisoners, assuring them of continued attention to their welfare. He pledged to improve sporting facilities within the prison and indicated that the Lordina Foundation would assist with inmates’ healthcare needs.
The delegation also toured ongoing development projects at the facility, including a 5,000-layer poultry unit and an 800-capacity remand block, both aimed at easing congestion and improving conditions within the prison.
