Angry Sefwi Debiso resident exposes ‘Big Push’ contractor over abandoned road project
Tension is mounting in Sefwi Debiso as an aggrieved resident has publicly accused a contractor working under the government’s “Big Push” infrastructure initiative of abandoning a major road project in the area.
In a video circulating widely on social media, the visibly frustrated resident alleged that work on the road has stalled for months, leaving commuters and residents to contend with dusty, uneven, and nearly impassable conditions. According to him, the contractor only returned to site briefly when a government minister was scheduled to visit the community.
“He only came here because the minister was coming. After the visit, everything has stopped again,” the resident lamented, questioning the commitment of authorities to completing the project.
Residents say the abandoned road has affected daily life, making transportation difficult, increasing vehicle maintenance costs, and disrupting economic activities in the area. Traders and drivers in particular have expressed concern about the impact on their livelihoods, especially during the rainy season when the road becomes muddy and dangerous.
The “Big Push” initiative, aimed at accelerating infrastructure development across Ghana, has been touted as a transformative agenda to improve road networks and boost economic growth.
