Engineers working tirelessly to restore stable power supply — Energy Minister
The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, has assured Ghanaians that engineers are working around the clock to restore stable power supply following recent outages.
The country has experienced intermittent electricity disruptions over the past two weeks, raising concerns among households and businesses.
The outages were initially linked to ongoing transformer upgrade works by the Electricity Company of Ghana.
However, the situation worsened after a fire outbreak at a Ghana Grid Company power control centre, which led to a loss of about 1,000 megawatts from the national grid.
Addressing the public at the Government Accountability Series on Monday, April 27, the Minister assured that efforts are underway to restore supply.
"Our engineers have remained on site, working around the clock under very difficult conditions to restore operations," he said.
He added that some engineers have stayed on site for days to ensure rapid progress.
Already, Dr. Jinapor anounced that two generation units have been successfully restored with efforts to have all six fixed by the end of the week.
