Ghana will invest $250 million to establish world-class AI computing centre — Mahama
President John Dramani Mahama has announced a $270 million investment package aimed at accelerating Ghana’s artificial intelligence agenda as government intensifies efforts to position the country as a major digital innovation hub in Africa.
He made the announcement at the launch of Ghana’s National Artificial Intelligence Strategy in Accra on Friday, April 24, outlining plans to build key infrastructure and support the rollout of the national framework.
According to him, $250 million will be committed to the establishment of a world-class AI Computing Centre, while an additional $20 million will fund the short to medium-term implementation of the strategy.
The President explained that the facility will serve as a national centre for research, innovation and enterprise development, enabling Ghanaian talent to design and scale solutions with broader continental impact.
“Infrastructure is the foundation upon which innovation rests. Ghana will invest $250 million to establish a world-class AI computing centre. In addition, government will commit $20 million to support the short to medium-term National AI strategy. These investments are bold but necessary,” he said.
