Unity and trust key to NPP’s rebuilding — Boakye Antwi

A General Secretary aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Eugene Boakye Antwi, has called for urgent efforts to rebuild trust and unity within the opposition party.

He stressed the need to strengthen grassroots structures and address the financial burden placed on constituency executives.

Speaking on Accra-based Channel One TV on Thursday, April 16, Mr. Boakye Antwi said restoring confidence among party members is key to reviving the NPP ahead of future elections.

“I’m going to focus on my unite agenda… unite the party and rebuild trust within our ranks. The trust issue is why people are holding registers to their chest and don’t want to register,” he stated.

The former Subin MP noted that weak internal systems, particularly around dues collection and financial support for the base, continue to hinder party growth.

According to him, this has created a situation where flagbearers of the party are being overburdened with all financial needs of the party.

“Why do you have to burden the flagbearer with everything? The party belongs to the members… people want to pay, but they don’t have ways to pay,” he added.

Mr. Boakye Antwi further advocated for sustainable and transparent mechanisms to mobilise resources internally.

He noted that strengthening the party’s financial base is critical to rebuilding and maintaining an effective political structure.
