Mahama arrives in Congo for Sassou N’Guesso inauguration
President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo, to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Denis Sassou N'Guesso following his reelection for another five-year term.
President Sassou N’Guesso secured victory in the March 15 election with 94.82 per cent of the vote, extending his rule over the Central African oil-producing nation to nearly 42 years.
President Mahama travelled to Brazzaville shortly after launching the Free Primary Healthcare Programme in Dodowa in the Greater Accra Region on Wednesday.
He is expected to return to Accra after the inauguration ceremony scheduled for Thursday morning.
