Sunyani student shines at Ghana TVET Excellence Awards 2026

A student of the Don Bosco Technical Institute at Odomase near Sunyani has brought pride to the Bono Region after emerging as one of the top performers at the 2026 Ghana TVET Excellence Awards.

Raymond Ofosu Agyemang, a Computer Technology student, was adjudged 1st Runner-Up for Best Pre-Tertiary Student at the prestigious national awards ceremony. His achievement has been widely celebrated by GLOMEF Ghana, which described the recognition as a reflection of his hard work, discipline, and commitment to excellence.

Beyond academics, Raymond has distinguished himself in youth leadership and advocacy. He serves as Clerk of the Sunyani Adolescents Parliament under the Resilient City for Adolescents (RCA) Project, an initiative led by GLOMEF Ghana and its partners. Through the programme, he has received training in ICT and journalism, equipping him with skills in communication, leadership, and civic engagement.

In the same category, another student from the institute, Agyemang Joseph Biney, was named 2nd Runner-Up, further highlighting the school’s strong performance at the national level. The institution itself also earned recognition as the 2nd Runner-Up for Best TVET School in Ghana.

GLOMEF Ghana, in a press release signed by its CEO Raphael Ahenu Junior, commended the management, teachers, and mentors of Don Bosco Technical Institute for their role in nurturing talented students and promoting quality technical and vocational education.

The organization emphasized that such achievements underscore the importance of investing in youth development and skills training, urging young people across the country to pursue excellence through determination and discipline.

The success of the students and their institution has been hailed as a proud moment for Sunyani and the Bono Region, reinforcing the growing impact of TVET education in Ghana.
