NaCCA begins review of KG to primary six curriculum

The National Council for Curriculum and Assessment has initiated a review of Ghana’s Kindergarten to Primary Six curriculum, originally introduced in the 2019 2020 academic year.

The exercise is part of efforts to align the curriculum with current national education policies and emerging government priorities.

As part of the process, a joint meeting involving the Curriculum Steering Committee and the Technical Working Group was held on March 12, 2026, at the Ministry of Education in Accra.

During the meeting, a report from a NaCCA research team was presented, outlining findings from an evaluation of the existing curriculum and offering key insights to guide the revision.

Officials indicated that the meeting forms part of a broader series of consultations aimed at assessing progress and ensuring a thorough and inclusive review.

The revision is expected to make the curriculum more responsive to changing educational demands, while strengthening its relevance to Ghana’s socio-cultural context.

It will also place emphasis on integrating Ghanaian culture and values into teaching, as well as enhancing competencies needed to improve learning outcomes at the basic education level.
