Project Ashanti culture through responsible journalism - GJA President

The President of the Ghana Journalists Association has called on media practitioners and journalists in the Ashanti region to project the rich culture of the Ashanti region to the world through responsible journalism.

Mr Albert Dwumfour made the call in a statement read on his behalf by the Ashanti regional president of the association during the Ashanti Media Summit in Kumasi as part of events for the upcoming Ashanti festival 2026.

He described the theme of this year's Ashanti Festival " Amplifying Ashanti Media, Culture and Digital Influence, The New Creative Economy" as timely.

Mr Dwumfour observed that society is living in a period where story telling are shape and moved beyond traditional platforms.

The GJA President described the media as a powerful driver of tourism, cultural identity and economic opportunities.

He stressed that active and responsible journalism can greatly help project the rich Ashanti history, vibrant traditions and cultural heritage to the global community.

He noted that the media summit as part of the events reflects policymakers growing recognition of the role of the media in shaping social narratives, preserving culture and driving economic transformation.

He therefore commended organizers of the 2026 Ashanti Festival for involving the media in all activities of the festival.

Mr Albert Dwumfour also entreated both the traditional and digital media remain committed and participate in the summit and all events of the festival.
