Middle East tensions: Gov’t will be able to weather any possible storm — Prof Gyampo
The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers’ Authority (GSA), Ransford Gyampo, has expressed optimism that the government will be able to address any economic challenges that may arise from the tensions in the Middle East.
The United States, together with Israel, launched a missile strike on Iran on Saturday, February 28.
The attack resulted in the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Hosseini Khamenei.
Iran has since launched counterattacks on US military bases in the region and on Israel, describing the move as an act of self-defence.
The escalation has raised concerns about the possible impact on global fuel supply and the broader world economy, including potential effects on Ghana.
Reacting to the situation on Accra-based TV3’s KeyPoints show on Saturday, March 7, Prof. Gyampo said the current administration has demonstrated commitment through its actions.
“The essence of government is to solve problems. Judging from how the government has acted over the last year, yes, there are problems but the government will be able to weather the storm,” he said.
