Bawumia will win 2028 elections — Osahen Afenyo-Markin

The Minority Leader in Parliament and Member of Parliament for Effutu, Alexander Osahen Afenyo-Markin, has expressed confidence that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will return to power in the 2028 general elections with Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as President.

He said the party’s 2028 flagbearer has the vision and leadership qualities needed to unify the NPP and reposition it ahead of the next polls.

Speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile programme on Saturday, February 28, the Effutu lawmaker declared that victory in 2028 would depend on internal unity and loyalty to the party’s chosen leader.

“By the grace of God, Bawumia will win 2028 general elections,” he stated.

According to him, any serious member of the party must rally behind Dr. Bawumia to strengthen the NPP’s chances of reclaiming power in January 2029.

“In politics, your ability to win is first putting all your own house in order… If you love the party, that is our leader. Let’s all rally behind him. He has a clear vision for the country,” he noted.

Osahen Afenyo-Markin also referenced Dr. Bawumia’s push for a digitalised economy, suggesting that the vision, though not fully appreciated in the past, would gain broader acceptance over time.

He stressed that party loyalty remains key, noting that Dr. Bawumia has already secured the mandate of the NPP and deserves the backing of all members going forward.
