Hon. Lawrence Agyinsam Gives Account of His First Year in Office as MP
The Member of Parliament for the Hemang Lower Denkyira Constituency, Hon. Lawrence Agyinsam, has outlined a series of infrastructural and social intervention projects undertaken within his first year in office as an opposition legislator.
Addressing journalists on behalf of the MP, the NPP Constituency Chairman, Mr. Abu Farouk, noted that Hon. Agyinsam’s development agenda has focused on improving education, healthcare, and basic community facilities across the constituency.
Infrastructure and Health Projects
Chairman Farouk highlighted several key projects executed within the MP’s first year, including:
- Construction of an 8‑unit toilet facility and 4‑bathroom block at Jukwahe.
- Renovation of the old maternity block at Jukwa, aimed at enhancing healthcare delivery.
- 70% completion of the Bukuruso CHPS Compound.
- 85% completion of the Nsutem CHPS Compound.
- Ongoing development of a modern AstroTurf facility at Twifo Hemang to promote sports and youth development.
Education Support
Hon. Agyinsam has also invested significantly in the education sector:
- GHS 20,000 and 10 packs of roofing sheets donated to Mbem D/A Basic School for renovation.
- GHS 50,000 contributed toward the rehabilitation of Abrafo Catholic Basic School.
- Completion of renovation works at Gyankoboo D/A School.
- Distribution of mathematical sets to BECE candidates.
- Support for 500 tertiary students, each receiving GHS 1,000 to ease academic expenses.
- Provision of mattresses and trunks to newly admitted SHS Form One students.
- “My First Day at School” initiative, which saw the MP distribute exercise books, pencils, and refreshments to KG and Primary 1 pupils to encourage enrolment.
Road and Transportation Improvements
As part of efforts to address transportation challenges, the MP facilitated the grading of the Mbem feeder road, linking the community to the centre and improving mobility, especially during the rainy season.
Social Interventions
Chairman Farouk further disclosed that Hon. Agyinsam has implemented several social support programmes, including:
- Best Teacher Awards and recognition of hardworking teachers across the constituency.
- Provision of 30 streetlights to improve community safety.
- Support for 900 widows across Twifo Hemang, Wawase, and Jukwa.
Community Appreciation
The Headmaster of Gyankoboo D/A School, Mr. Ezekiel Martey Klotey, expressed profound gratitude to the MP, describing the school’s renovation as a major boost to teaching and learning.
At Nsutem, Madam Felicity Botchwey, a Senior Midwifery Officer, commended the MP for the ongoing CHPS Compound project, noting that the facility includes a maternity ward, delivery room, and staff bungalow.
Chairman Abu Farouk emphasized that these initiatives reflect Hon. Lawrence Agyinsam’s commitment to improving living conditions and accelerating development across the constituency.
