Technical team begins nationwide hospital assessments to boost healthcare delivery

While strategic health sector discussions are ongoing in Accra, a technical team has been dispatched to various regions to conduct detailed assessments of hospitals across the country.

The exercise is being undertaken in partnership with international collaborators, including Project C.U.R.E., with the aim of improving access to specialised medical services and strengthening the efficiency of Ghana’s healthcare system.

Authorities say the simultaneous engagement at both the policy level in the capital and the operational level in the regions is intentional.

The approach is designed to ensure that decisions taken at the top are directly informed by realities on the ground, allowing for smoother and more coordinated implementation of healthcare reforms.

The ongoing assessments are expected to highlight gaps in infrastructure, medical equipment and institutional capacity. Findings from the exercise will also guide efforts to reinforce referral systems and improve service delivery standards across health facilities nationwide.

Officials describe the initiative as part of a broader and coordinated reform agenda, focused on translating planning into practical interventions that will result in tangible improvements in patient care throughout the country.
