MCE backs Ho Central MP's development efforts

The Municipal Chief Executive for Ho, Stephen Adom, has passionately defended the performance of the Member of Parliament for Ho Central, Hon. Edem Kpotosu, urging party executives and the media to amplify the developmental projects underway in the constituency and ensure the public fully appreciates the work being done.

The MCE of Ho spoke to students and stakeholders at the Volta Regional Library Complex in Ho on Monday, February 23, 2025, during the Member of Parliament's ceremony to donate Legislative Materials to the Ghana Library Authority Volta Regional Library, Mr. Adom said the current MP has demonstrated a level of commitment he has not witnessed before from previous representatives. According to him, while significant progress is being made, the achievements are not being communicated effectively to the people.

“The MP that we have now is doing a lot,” he stated, adding that the challenge lies not in performance but in publicity. He appealed directly to journalists and party communicators to “polish” and properly project the initiatives undertaken, emphasizing that strategic communication is essential in modern governance.

Mr. Adom stressed that leadership is not merely about eloquence in Parliament. “It is not about standing in Parliament and rattling the Queen’s language,” he remarked. “It is about the work on the ground.” He maintained that tangible development within communities is the true measure of effective representation.

He cited the ongoing construction of a CHPS compound at Bamefedo as a clear example of fulfilled campaign promises. According to him, the project was initiated after the MP recalled his commitment during the campaign period to provide the community with improved healthcare infrastructure. The facility, he disclosed, has reached roofing level and is expected to enhance primary healthcare delivery when completed.

The MCE announced that the team would proceed directly to Bamefedo for inspection of the project site, inviting members of the press to accompany them and witness the progress firsthand.

In a candid appeal to party executives, Mr. Adom called for stronger internal collaboration. He warned that failure to support constituency efforts not only undermines individual officeholders but also weakens the broader political organization. “If you think you are killing us, you are killing the party,” he cautioned, underscoring the need for unity and coordinated effort.

He further revealed that arrangements have been made for the MP to be available in the constituency every Monday to receive visitors and address concerns, describing it as part of a deliberate strategy to bring leadership closer to the people.

The MCE reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving Ho Municipality through consistent, practical interventions. He assured residents that development efforts would continue and called on all stakeholders, party members, the media, and constituents to support the shared vision of progress for the municipality.
