Don't be deceived by the crowd and the applause

In the midst of thunderous applause and admiring crowds, it's easy to get lost in the euphoria of being wanted and needed. But let's take a step back and examine the true nature of the crowd's affection. Everyone has an interest, and people will often hail you as long as the sun shines brightly. However, when the clouds gather and the storm sets in, you'll be left standing alone, wondering what happened to the throngs of supporters.

Don't mistake the crowds and their applause for genuine support and approval. They're merely using you to serve their interests, and when you're no longer useful, they'll discard you like a used tissue. They chose you and put you in a position of leadership because you serve their agenda, not because they love or admire you. You're merely a tool, a means to an end, and when you cease to be useful, they'll replace you without a second thought.

The applause and accolades will fade, and you'll be left with nothing but the echoes of your own accomplishments. You'll realize that the crowds were never truly behind you but rather using you to further their own interests. Don't arrange your fight based on the crowd's enthusiasm; it's a lonely battle, and you'll be fighting it alone.

Your fight should be arranged based on your own strengths, not others'. Don't rely on the crowd's support to validate your worth or dictate your actions. When you're gone, the crowd will move on, and you'll be forgotten. The calls and salutes will cease, and you'll be left wondering what happened to the people who claimed to care.

Consider this: since you moved to your new home, how many people have visited you? How many people even know the place? Those who know your residence, what did they come there to do? They troop into your office because you're an officeholder and you can be of help or hold them accountable. It's because they get their daily bread from your table that you will see them. People join your vehicle to work, so you will see them. They seek your health, professional, spiritual advice, so you see them. You help them with their travel arrangements, so you see them.

The harsh reality is that people will only go as far as their interests are served. They'll visit you when they need something, but when you're no longer useful, they'll vanish. Don't take the applause to heart; it's a fleeting moment of glory. Instead, focus on building genuine relationships and serving a purpose greater than yourself.

Think about it: the crowd attended your father's funeral not because they love you, but because they want to be seen to be with you and be seen in pictures. The crowd came to your aid during your difficult time because you are still in charge. They want to be associated with your success. The crowd is like a vulture; it feeds on the dead, not the living. Don't be fooled; build your foundation on rock, not sand.

As the saying goes, "To understand death, examine sleep." Take a hard look at your life and ask yourself: Who are the people truly behind me? Who will stand by me when the storm clouds gather? The answer might be more revealing than you care to admit.

The day you strike down is the day of your replacement. After your retirement, you will not see the same crowd at your door. The calls and salutes will fade, yielding place to "why have you stopped calling and visiting me?" On your sick bed, you will have a proper understanding of the applause, whether it was approval or serving of interest.

Don't be deceived by the crowd and the applause; it's a trap. Focus on being true to yourself, and let the genuine people in your life be the ones who truly matter.
