Govt to extradite Russian man over alleged secret filming of Ghanaian women — Sam George
The Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation, Sam George, has disclosed that government has begun processes to extradite a Russian national allegedly involved in the secret filming of Ghanaian women.
Speaking on the matter, Sam George revealed that his office has taken swift action following reports and viral online content suggesting that the foreign national secretly recorded Ghanaian women without their consent and shared the content on digital platforms.
According to the Minister, he has formally invited the Russian Ambassador to Ghana to his office to initiate diplomatic proceedings aimed at securing the arrest and possible extradition of the suspect to face justice under Ghanaian law.
Public outrage erupted after videos allegedly linked to the suspect surfaced online, sparking concerns over privacy violations, cyber exploitation, and the abuse of digital platforms. Many social media users have since called on authorities to take decisive action to deter similar incidents in the future.
Legal experts indicate that if found guilty, the suspect could face charges related to unlawful surveillance, invasion of privacy, cybercrime, and the non-consensual distribution of intimate content under Ghana’s cybersecurity and criminal laws.
The Minister further noted that Ghana will not tolerate any form of digital exploitation, whether perpetrated by citizens or foreign nationals, adding that government remains committed to strengthening cybersecurity enforcement and protecting vulnerable persons online.
The Ministry is expected to work closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, security agencies, and international partners to ensure due process is followed in line with international extradition protocols.
