Central Tongu DCE Unveils Comprehensive 2026 Development Plan for Central Tongu

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Central Tongu District, Hon. Addison Dodzie Mornyie, has unveiled an ambitious development agenda aimed at accelerating growth and improving living standards across the district in 2026.

Speaking on the district’s priorities, Hon. Mornyie noted that the planned initiatives align with the government’s broader development agenda and are structured to address key sectors, including health, agriculture, education, road infrastructure, and sanitation.

In the health sector, the DCE disclosed that Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds are currently under construction in several communities. He added that the facilities will be complemented with staff bungalows to improve healthcare delivery and create better working conditions for health professionals in the district.

On agriculture, Hon. Mornyie emphasized that Central Tongu is predominantly an agrarian district, making farmer support a major priority. He revealed that plans are underway to supply farmers with fertilizers, tractors, and other essential farming inputs and equipment to boost productivity and enhance food security.

Touching on education, the DCE announced that scholarships have been awarded to qualified but needy students to support their academic pursuits. He also revealed that the district has procured 1,500 dual desks for Mafi Kumase Senior High Technical School and Adidome Senior High School. Additionally, the construction of six-unit and twelve-unit classroom blocks is expected to commence in four communities to reduce overcrowding and improve the learning environment.

Regarding road infrastructure, Hon. Mornyie stated that several township road projects initiated last year will continue in 2026 to improve accessibility and facilitate the smooth movement of people and goods within the district.

Sanitation, he stressed, remains a key priority. The DCE pledged to intensify sanitation campaigns and strengthen waste management systems, with the goal of making Central Tongu one of the cleanest districts in the country.

He called on residents, traditional authorities, and other stakeholders to support the district’s development efforts, emphasizing that collective responsibility and collaboration are essential to achieving the outlined goals.
