‘I’m excited to be home; my mother is from Ghana’ — Renowned streamer IShowSpeed
Popular American YouTuber and streamer Darren Watkins Jr., widely known as IShowSpeed, has expressed his excitement after arriving in Ghana for his ongoing “Speed Does Africa” tour.
The 21-year-old content creator has been touring across Africa since late December 2025, live-streaming his experiences, interacting with massive crowds, and showcasing local cultures, dances, wildlife encounters, and everyday life.
His tour has already taken him to over 16 countries, including Morocco, Kenya, South Africa, Nigeria, and now Ghana.
IShowSpeed touched down in Ghana on Sunday, January 25, where he was greeted by a large crowd at the airport. To support his streaming activities, the state provided him with a helicopter for mobility and coverage.
Speaking during a live stream from Akropong in the Eastern Region on Monday, he expressed his excitement at returning to his roots.
“I’m really excited, bro, I’m back home. Bro, ain’t a better feeling. That makes it even better,” he said, referring to his Ghanaian heritage through his mother.
He added, “I do got family that’s Ghanaian, my mother. It’s exciting to stream here.”
Meanwhile, as part of his streaming activities which is reportedly going to last for a day, the global streamer is scheduled to participate in a Supercar Spectacle, Ghana's privately owned premier, large-scale automotive festival.
