Second session of ninth Parliament to begin on February 3

Parliament has formally announced that the Second Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic will commence on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at exactly 12 noon.

The announcement is contained in the Commencement Instrument, 2026, issued by the Office of the Speaker of Parliament and dated January 19, 2026. The instrument was signed by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, in line with Article 112(1) of the 1992 Constitution.

According to the notice, the official opening of the session will take place at Parliament House in Accra. By the authority vested in him, the Speaker formally declared the date, time, and venue for the resumption of parliamentary business.

The Second Session will usher Members of Parliament back into full legislative activity, including debates on national policy issues, consideration of bills, committee work, and oversight of government programmes and actions.

The commencement marks a key milestone in Ghana’s parliamentary calendar, as lawmakers reconvene to continue deliberations aimed at strengthening governance and advancing national development.
