Obuasi East Municipal Assembly to Distribute Skip Containers to Boost Sanitation
The Obuasi East Municipal Assembly has announced plans to distribute skip containers to selected communities as part of efforts to improve sanitation and enhance effective waste management across the municipality.
The announcement was made during the Assembly’s final National Sanitation Day exercise, which was held at Akaporiso, a community in the Obuasi East Municipality.
Addressing residents, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. William Kofi Adzowu, noted that one of the major sanitation challenges confronting the municipality is the inadequate number of skip containers in some communities. He explained that the planned distribution of skip containers is aimed at improving waste management and encouraging residents to adopt better sanitation practices.
Hon. Adzowu reiterated the Assembly’s commitment to sustaining sanitation initiatives beyond National Sanitation Day. He disclosed that plans are underway to introduce additional measures to beautify public spaces and ensure that communities remain clean, healthy, and attractive.
The MCE further encouraged residents to take ownership of their environment by observing proper waste management practices, stressing that maintaining cleanliness requires collective responsibility and sustained community involvement.
Meanwhile, the Assembly Member for the Akaporiso Electoral Area, Hon. Ibrahim Mabuah, has expressed heartfelt appreciation to residents for their active participation in the recent National Sanitation Day exercise.
In a statement, Hon. Mabuah commended the community for its dedication to maintaining a clean and healthy environment. “I am thrilled to see so many people coming together to make our community a better place. Your efforts demonstrate a strong commitment to improving our living conditions and promoting public health,” he stated.
He added that the exercise was a clear demonstration of what could be achieved through unity and cooperation. “This initiative is a testament to what we can achieve when we work together. Let us continue to collaborate on projects that benefit our community and make our environment a healthier place for all,” Hon. Mabuah emphasized.
